Answers to Your Frequently Asked Questions
What Can I expect in my share? With our CSA, we try to strike a balance between having a variety of produce while also offering you plenty of your tried and true favorites! Our CSA is "Market Style" which means that when you show up for pick-up we hand you an empty box and you get to fill your box with fresh produce. This gives you a chance to ask any questions you might have about this week's bounty, and you may also skip over the items you may not want to try. If we have a surplus of something else you prefer you can then substitute that item. Also, because it is our goal to address food insecurity in Hamilton County, anything you don't take, we will donate it to a local family in need. We also provide recipes regularly so you can experiment with new vegetables and experience the joy of eating seasonally.
What happens if we can’t come pick-up our share or if we will be out of town for the week? Try to arrange for a friend, family member, neighbor, or co-worker pick-up your share. If you can’t find anyone who wants a crate full of tasty veggies, please give us 24hrs notice and we’ll donate your share to the Come to Me Food Pantry in Fishers.
When and where do I pick-up my CSA share each week? We offer weekly on-farm pick-up on Thursday evenings from 4:00-7:00pm so you can get to know your farmers, swap recipes with fellow CSA members, and enjoy all that the farm has to offer. The farm is located at 10980 E. 221st St., Noblesville, IN 46062.
What happens if we did not pick-up our share on our assigned pick-up day? After the CSA pick-up is finished on Thursday evenings at 7:00pm, all unclaimed CSA shares will get donated to our farm neighbors in need.
How much does a Weekly CSA Share cost? We have two options- a Full Share (every week for 20 weeks) and a Half Share (every other week for 20 weeks - 10 pick-ups).
- Full Share = $550-$650. We ask that you pay what you are able within this range. If you pay at the high end you help others who are not able to pay as much still have access to great local food. Our Weekly Shares feed 2-3 adults (or a family of 4) that enjoy eating fresh fruits and veggies! Starting in early June through late October (20 total weeks) you will pick-up your share of seasonal produce each week at the farm.
- Half Share = $350-450. This is a great way to start eating tasty local fruits and vegetables. We ask that you pay what you are able within this range. Our Half Shares are the same size as our Full Shares but are provided less frequently (every other week) throughout the season. Every other week you will pick-up fresh veggies on the farm starting in early June through late October (10 total pick-ups). We'll also help you with storage suggestions so that your produce will last as long as possible (which is much longer than you are used to since it comes directly from the field and not off the back of a truck from California). This is a great option for individuals, empty-nesters, or more carnivorous eaters. Plus, if you fall in love with our fresh produce (which we hope you will) we will allow you to convert your Half Share to a Full Share as long as our production volume allows.
Is my deposit refundable? No. Your $150 deposit (for Half Shares) or $250 deposit (for Full Shares) is not refundable or transferable. The CSA deposit reserves your spot in the CSA and will be put towards the total cost of your share.
How do I make my payment? Once your CSA application have been approved, you will receive an email with further instructions on how to make payment. You can pay with credit or debit card, or by check.
What happens if I do not pay on time? Deposits for 2018 are due now. The balance of share cost must be paid by Feb. 15, 2018. After Feb. 15, if your balance is not paid your CSA share may be forfeited along with your deposit. However, if you are experiencing a hardship, please let us know and we will try to work with you. The nature of a CSA program is for the members to invest in the farm as early in the season as possible. The farm cannot function as it should if payments are made late. As we are a small farm we depend on the commitments of our members and community 100% of the way.
Can I come pick up my share early? On-farm pick ups are from 4:00pm – 7:00pm only. Please do not come before 4:00pm, since we are often busy harvesting, washing, packing, and setting up produce for pick-up day.
Will the shares be limited? Yes, we will be limiting our CSA shares for 2018. If you would like to be added to our waiting list, please email Jonah at moc.m1542158019rafci1542158019nagro1542158019retet1542158019@bbat1542158019j1542158019.
Can I split a share with a friend or another family? You may split a Full Share with a friend or another family.
Is my CSA Membership Tax Deductible? Your CSA share payment of $550-650 is not tax deductible because you are paying market value for produce that you receive in return. If you would like make a donation to Teter Organic Farm's non-profit work which are tax deductible, you can do so here: https://pushpay.com/g/noblesvillefirst?src=hpp (Be sure to choose "Teter Farm" in the drop down box")
As a member, when can I visit the farm? You may visit the farm on CSA pick-up nights each Thursday from 4:00-7:00 pm. We will also host special member only events on the farm each year (2018 dates TBD). You may also volunteer on the farm during the week as well. Please Note: Four-legged friends are welcome on the farm, however, only human visitors are allowed in the growing areas of the farm.
